Hey there! I'm Devon, and I started The Automated Family because I believe smart home technology shouldn't feel intimidating.

A few years ago, I bought my first smart speaker on impulse. Within a week, I'd connected my lights, thermostat, and front door lock. Within a month, my morning routine ran itself — coffee brewing as my alarm went off, lights gradually brightening, and the thermostat adjusting before I ever left bed.

That feeling of "wait, my house just did that for me?" is what got me hooked. And I realized most families were missing out — not because the tech is too hard, but because nobody was explaining it in plain English.
